From glacial origin, the Abbaye lake is situated 900m high in the Haut-Jura. 7Km away from Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux, on Grande-Rivière county, it is also named Grandvaux lake, it takes its name from the abbey depending on Saint-Claude's located on its edge in the 12th century. Entirely frozen in winter, what a fantastic field surface for skating !

Winter and summer activities

In winter : the proximity of the Lou Granva hotel with the Les Rousses ski resort, 30km away, offers plenty nordic activities : downhill skiing, snowshoeing, sledge, horse-carriage tour, diving baptism under ice, dogsledging activity, walk in harness with Comtois draft horses.

300 meters away from the hotel, the cross-country ski starting point allows the skiers to link  without problem, the villages of Saint-Laurent, le Lac des Rouges Truites, Saint-Pierre, Prénovel, Chaux-des-Prés, Château-des-Prés and, of course, Grande-Rivière.

Little advice : always plan snowchains in winter to reach the Jura mountain.

In summer : the Abbaye lake surrounded by fir and spruce forests, provides fresh mountain breezes. The Haut-Jura forest, its lakes and marine areas, are ready to entertain the sports enthusiasts and nature lovers : golfing, kayaking, canoeing, horse riding, windsurfing, karting, diving baptism are accessible to everyone.
